About Us!

Hello and thank you for reading our blog.

My husband, John, and I are on a trip around Australia. We left home in Western Australia in May 2021 with a plan to travel the country for 12 months. John is retired and I was able to take leave from my job as a high school teacher. However, we are ten months in and we are still in the Northern Territory so our trip has blown out to probably 18 months. Who’s complaining? I’d travel indefinitely if I could.

There were a few delays in the first six months – in particular covid19, but also having to send our Nissan back to Perth for repairs and blowing our budget on another car to continue our trip, then the arrival of another grandchild, born in Nhulunbuy in November. We had visited Nhulunbuy in July and August and loved it, so it wasn’t a difficult decision to go back and spend the Wet Season there. This has given us lots of time with newborn Joey and his big brother, Tommy. I, unexpectedly, picked up almost full time relief teaching at the local high school, and we were asked to housesit for a couple of months. This led to another housesit then a whole lot more. We have spent virtually the whole Wet Season in air conditioned houses with Netflix!

We have a plan to leave Gove just after Easter to continue our travels. We will be very sad to leave this amazing place, all our new friends, and particularly the family. However, we will be excited to get back into the caravan and explore more of Australia.

We hope you will continue to enjoy travelling with us through this blog.

Stay safe,

Lynn and John
